Chelation Thearpy

Chelation IV TherapyChelation therapy is an intravenous medical treatment performed in the clinic that proponents claim improves metabolic function and blood flow through blocked arteries throughout the body. One chelating agent used is the amino acid, ethylene-diamine-tetra-acetic acid (EDTA), administered via an intravenous infusion using a small 25-gauge needle in the arm or hand. EDTA chelation therapy makes good sense to chemists and some medical researchers as it has a rational scientific basis. In a nutshell: Metallic ions like iron, copper, mercury or lead play an important role in the formation of atherosclerotic plaque. EDTA removes these ions with relative safety and without surgery.

Published research and extensive clinical experience exists that suggest EDTA helps to reduce and prevent atherosclerotic plaque, thus improving blood flow to the heart and other organs. Some practitioners believe that a course of EDTA chelation therapy might eliminate the need for bypass surgery. In addition, chelation may serve as a preventive treatment in certain instances.

At Dr. Steenblock’s Clinic we also use other powerful intravenous therapies that include a variety of chelating agents as well as nutritional supplementation via I.V. Why I.V.s? Because intravenous nutrients and medications go right to where they are needed in the body. Nutritional intravenous therapies can hydrate a dehydrated body quickly, assist powerfully in the detoxification of liver and lymphatic system, and thus help the patient to feel better more quickly while helping their body work more efficiently to heal.

Dr. Steenblock will evaluate you and determine what I.V. therapies are likely to help you reach your recovery and preventive goals.

NOTE: The mainstream scientific and medical community rejects the use of chelation for any condition except for heavy metal poisoning. Various authorities have assessed studies done involving chelation for vascular conditions and found the evidence lacking, conflicting or totally negative. The FDA does not approve chelation for use in treating vascular problems.
