OUR BEGINNINGS IN NEURO-REHAB

Dr. Steenblock has been practicing holistic medicine since 1978 in Southern California having opened the first holistic clinic west of the Mississippi at that time. In 1988 Dr. Steenblock obtained a full body hyperbaric chamber for treatment of patients with brain damage.

One day in 1991 he got a call from a patient whose mother had just had a stroke and had been taken to the hospital. The mother was totally paralyzed on her left side. Dr. Steenblock told her to take her out of the hospital against medical advice and bring her to his clinic. She was brought to his clinic in an ambulance and was immediately placed in the hyperbaric oxygen chamber. After 24 hours of alternating Hyperbaric Oxygen and Intravenous Therapies, she was able to walk out of the clinic without assistance, with virtually 98% recovery of all of her faculties.

It must be emphasized that this was an ACUTE case of stroke in which the treatments moderated the brain damage caused by the “ischemic penumbra” that surrounds the initial site of the stroke. Chronic stroke patients usually don’t have this high level of recovery but can achieve results that often are better than those they have seen with other more conventional treatments. In general the more treatments of hyperbaric and stem cells a patient with a chronic stroke has the more likely they will be to achieve improvement.

Of the more than 2,000 stroke patients that Dr. David Steenblock has treated many have reaped notable benefits from their HBOT and other treatments.
